I found this RV on CraigsList.org ...

It's actually a 1984 Chevy Honey. I responded to the ad and in a short while, someone named Joey texted me back saying that it's still available. He said that he was sad to say that the Onan generator had been sold and the price dropped to $500, which I would have removed anyway and used that space for deep cycle batteries, perhaps solar charged for boondocking. Now, I'm really interested, so I made arrangements to go to Baltimore (Parkville) to see it.

I arrived and met Joey, the owner's son. Joey showed me around the RV and told me that I wasn't going to be able to just drive it out of there. I asked why not? He said that the carburetor needs to be rebuilt because its been sitting so long. I asked "Did you drive it to park it in this spot?" and he answered, yes. I said "Well give me a few minutes and I'll have her running again."

The battery cable bolts were missing, but James (the owner) rustled up some regular bolts and washers to rig the cables to the battery. I installed a band new battery, filled the carburetor's float bowl with gas, gave it a shot of starting fluid, turned the key and with a single burst of black smoke and a mighty VROOMMMMMM! she thundered back to life, and then settled down to a nice idle. As soon as the float bowl emptied, the engine stalled, so I knew it was the fuel pump.

Yesterday I installed the fuel pump and she runs fine on her own now. Today I transferred the title and picked up the tags. Tomorrow early, I'll go back to Baltimore to finish up the prep work for the drive north to Lebanon County, PA.

It's been sitting since 2013, the roof leaks and there's a lot of rotted wood to be replaced. I know going in that it will be a serious project. Stay tuned to this channel!
